Sonnet: The Story of Mujeres en Café

Sonnet: The Story of Mujeres en Café

Nestled high in the misty mountains of Caldas, Colombia, Sonnet isn’t just a coffee—it’s a melody composed by the hands of 770 remarkable women. Through the Mujeres en Café program, Sonnet celebrates a rich symphony of flavors and female empowerment.

Origin & Elevation

Sonnet beans originate from the Cooperativa de Caficultores de Manizales, grown at elevations of 1,500 to 1,900 meters above sea level in Caldas—a region known for its exceptional coffee terroir.

The Women Behind the Beans

More than just growers, these 770 women are trailblazers. The Mujeres en Café initiative focuses on:

  • Economic empowerment
  • Leadership and business training
  • Environmental sustainability

Through these efforts, it nurtures community well-being and recognizes the vital role of women in coffee culture.

Taste Profile & Quality

Sonnet, graded Excelso 15+, undergoes a fully-washed process. It earned a solid 85.25 cup score and presents:

  • Tasting notes: nutty and chocolaty with a hint of vanilla
  • Acidity: medium-low citrus
  • Body: juicy and well-balanced
  • Aftertaste: sweet and lingering

This makes Sonnet versatile for all brewing methods.
