Introducing Rhapsody: A Bold Brazilian Ballad in Your Cup

Introducing Rhapsody: A Bold Brazilian Ballad in Your Cup

There’s a certain magic in the way Brazilian coffees carry warmth, richness, and soul — and Rhapsody is no exception. This new offering from Poets and Prose is everything we love in a medium roast, wrapped in harmony: notes of smooth chocolate, golden caramel, a spark of citrus acidity, and a whisper of light fruit on the finish. All of it anchored by a dense, satisfying body that lingers like a well-loved chorus.

Sourced from the Anahi lot, this Yellow Catuai bean is grown on the Cachoeira and Joia Rara farms in the Cerrado Mineiro region — a place where coffee thrives under clear skies, red earth, and a steady rhythm of sun and rain. The altitude here, between 950 and 1100 meters above sea level, is just right for slow ripening, which means deeper sugars, fuller flavors, and a more expressive cup.

What makes Rhapsody sing is the natural fermentation process — a technique that brings out the bean’s inherent sweetness while preserving its subtle citrus and fruity edges. It’s a cup that feels grounded yet melodic, with a structure that stands up beautifully as an espresso, French press, or your favorite brew method.

At the heart of this coffee is Danilo Barbosa, a fourth-generation farmer whose family has been cultivating coffee in Brazil since the early 1900s. The story began with Danilo’s great-grandfather, Elias Barbosa, and has been passed down like a family hymn through generations. Today, Danilo carries that legacy forward with a focus on sustainability, community, and producing coffees that reflect the character of the land and the soul of the grower.

The name Anahi, from which these beans come, means “she who has a sweet voice” in the Indigenous Tupí-Guaraní language — a fitting description for a coffee that hums with soft fruit notes and a gentle sweetness beneath its bolder tones. It’s also a nod to the cultural richness of Brazil and the Indigenous roots that continue to shape its landscape.

Rhapsody is our tribute to this lineage — a medium roast that doesn’t overpower but performs with balance and grace. It’s roasted to highlight complexity, so you’ll taste more than just boldness: you’ll taste care, tradition, and the soft melody of something made with intention.
